Building and Grounds committee identifies exterior repairs and playground safety checks

At a 5 p.m. Building and Grounds Committee walkthrough, Meredith Beaupre and Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick noted the need to replace a water spout, inspect playground bolts and complete maintenance on the wooden play boat; the committee added memorial-policy research and safety inspections to the to-do list.
The Chebeague Island School Committee’s Building and Grounds Committee met at 5:00 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Recreation Center and conducted an outside walkthrough of school grounds and playgrounds.
Member Meredith Beaupre and Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick noted several maintenance items: a water spout to the left of the front door should be replaced, the building floors and hall had been waxed and were drying, and playground equipment — including a wooden boat feature — should be checked for bolt integrity and overall safety. The committee added follow-up tasks to the to-do list: research the policy for memorials on school grounds, perform safety checks on playground bolts and materials, and Beaupre agreed to bring sand for the boat once repairs are completed.
The committee placed a copy of the CTC contract and other maintenance notes in the committee notebook for ongoing tracking.
