Halloween Fest faces vendor shortages; council moves to find replacements and feed officers

At the Oct. 6 Village of South Bloomfield council meeting, members discussed logistics for the village’s Halloween Fest after most contracted food trucks canceled. Council members said all original food trucks except Strawser's pulled out, citing a competing event at Fortress Obetz.
Tom Ramsay said he would post the call for vendors to COFTA to recruit new food trucks. Amber Murphy proposed ordering sandwich and pizza platters and a veggie tray to feed officers who will staff the event; Dena Cobb suggested adding extra decorations to make up for a smaller food budget. Council members agreed that additional decorations were needed and asked Amber Murphy to look into options.
A resident, Mike Sherron, complimented the police department’s increased visible patrols and also noted progress on the US-23 project. Council also discussed a resident question about permitting residents to decorate the walk path for holidays; council members raised concerns about liability and the need to ensure setup, maintenance and cleanup would not be assigned to village staff.
