South Bloomfield police report narcotics seizure; officer exposed to fentanyl and treated

Chief Michael Maynard told the Village of South Bloomfield council on Sept. 2, 2025, that a recent traffic stop by Officers McCoy and Flores resulted in the seizure of a large amount of narcotic drugs and an illegal firearm and led to three arrests.
The chief said Officer McCoy was exposed to fentanyl during the stop, was administered Narcan at the scene and transported to the hospital; other officers covered his duties while he received care. Maynard also reported that Flock is scheduling installation of the three remaining cameras and that a camera in Bloomfield Hills is already operational.
On department equipment, Maynard said the department decided to offer a Mustang on a government sale rather than an open auction. The village has two potential offers — $20,000 and $21,000 — and the chief from the higher‑offering department was scheduled to inspect the car the following day.
Maynard also noted he was elected to the Ohio Association of Chiefs Patrolling Committee and said he intends to use the position to represent smaller departments on proposed changes from OPOTA. No further operational details, charges or hospital updates were specified in the meeting record.
