Norwich fire chief to retire; assistant chief promoted and promotions approved

Trustees approved several fire-department expenditures tied to operations and training: renewal of a Physio-Control (LifePak) contract covering two years, attendance at instructor and arson-investigation workshops, and purchase of a small fire-investigation device ("electronic nose" at $595). The board also approved training and seminar attendance costs and directed staff to proceed with specifications for replacement vehicles and equipment when required.
