The board discussed multiple land options for cemetery expansion, including a 150-acre parcel north of Homestead Park (owner Don Seeley) and later a developer’s offer (two-and-a-half acres) that trustees found largely unusable due to slope. Trustees considered eminent-domain options and engaged their prosecutor’s office on annexation and land-acquisition steps. "The acreage they offered to us is not all usable land," Chairman Junk recorded after a developer offer; trustees instructed staff to consult the county prosecutor on next steps.
Operationally, the board approved equipment to maintain cemetery grounds: in March trustees approved a John Deere F911 front mower (final cost about $5,838 after trade-in) and later approved a replacement pickup truck and other small equipment. Mr. Montgomery worked on identifying a cemetery tracking program (Ramaker and state-auditor-provided options were discussed) and requested time to prepare a sample hard-copy section for vendor input; the board agreed to proceed with the evaluation and to apply any submission fee against program purchase if approved. Trustees also authorized temporary cemetery workers and summer help to support maintenance and data-entry tasks.
