Council approves multiple ordinances, resolutions and contracts; votes at a glance

The Kenosha Common Council handled a package of ordinances, resolutions, contracts and project acceptances on Feb. 3, approving a range of items—largely unanimously—during a single session.

Key outcomes: the council moved multiple ordinances (first readings E1–F2) on their way, approved second-reading ordinance G1 (adding Ward 97 to the 16th Aldermanic District) 16–0, and approved rezoning H1 (several addresses to single-family RS2) 16–0. Preliminary resolutions I1 and I2 from Public Works declaring intent to levy assessments for sidewalk and driveway approach programs were concurred with 16–0.

The council also concurred with finance on several agreements (L1–L4 and M1), including an agreement with Gateway Technical College (L1); a services agreement for blood bank services with Freighter at South Inc for the Fire Department (L2); and a lending services agreement with State Bank of the Lakes to administer the Home Kenosha program (L3). An offer to purchase city property at 2111 57th Street (L4) and a disbursement record totaling $6,280,178.48 were also approved by voice/roll call votes.

Public Works reported acceptance of project 23-1030, Pershing Boulevard resurfacing, as satisfactorily completed by AW Oaks and Sons Inc with a final contract amount of $1,744,226; the council concurred 16–0.

Several items were passed with no public testimony after hearings were opened and closed; where public hearings were held there were no speakers and motions passed on roll call. The meeting record shows the council moving through consent and noncontroversial business and adjourning after aldermanic comments.
