"I was told that they only held their video for 30 days," Preston said, describing a discrepancy she found with what she understands to be the retention period required for establishments with drive-through service. She said she had contacted her alderman, the police chief and the city attorney and that Officer Galley was the only officer willing to talk and take action.
Preston said she had requested the item be placed on a council agenda but did not get a response that satisfied her and that she subsequently filed an additional complaint. She asked the council to "look into this a little bit further" and said, as a precaution, she wanted the council to consider suspending the establishment until it could produce 90 days of documentation required for licensing.
The comment followed by other public remarks and no formal council action addressing the complaint was recorded during the meeting record. The council did not take an immediate vote or direct staff on the transcripted record to initiate suspension or enforcement steps during this session.
