Robbins council approves treasurer report; officials outline Village Hall move, hiring and public-works concerns

The Village of Robbins Board of Trustees voted March 10 to approve the Treasurer's report, which showed total funds of $818,907.38. Trustee Thomas Harper Jr. moved the measure and Trustee David R. Dyson seconded; the roll-call vote recorded Ayes from Harper, Dyson, Chanel Kelly and Michael Collier Sr., an abstention from Trustee Jeanneen Holmes, and the absence of Trustee Ernest Maxey Jr.
Mayor Darren E. Bryant and Village Administrator Korie Dickson updated residents on operational matters tied to a planned move of Village Hall. Dickson said the transition is "on target thus far for April 1st" and warned that services such as water-bill payments will be affected during the move; she referenced tentative closure dates in late March and an April 1 reopening. Dickson also announced active hiring for public-works laborers, CDL drivers and experienced equipment operators, and said applications could be picked up at the temporary community center location.
Public safety and operations reports were presented: Trustee Chanel Kelly read Chief Malley’s written report showing 114 incident responses for February (86 emergency medical services, 12 fire-related incidents, three motor-vehicle accidents and three hazardous-material incidents including carbon monoxide). The department reported $13,454.67 in ambulance revenue received and $124,518.00 billed in February. Chief White gave a verbal update. Mayor Bryant said he plans to reduce late-night business hours this summer, stating the town has previously allowed later hours and that he is "thinking 12 start off with 2am," prompting a planned public safety meeting to develop needed legislation.
Public works matters included an introduction of Mr. Pace from the Public Works Department and acknowledgement from VA Dickson of resident complaints about Claire Blvd. during the meeting’s public-comment period. Several residents asked about bulk pickup and stickers; one resident, Mr. Ray Ray, said the village previously picked up large items and indicated the village plans to add a pickup fee to customer water bills under a garbage-fee line.
The board adjourned at 8:13 p.m. The mayor reminded residents of a finance meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
