Board approves RISE pilot for three campuses and selects TASB delegate; Jerry Atkins named delegate

The BRAZOSPORT ISD Board approved two separate items: (1) authorization to participate in a one-year RISE pilot program for three campuses, and (2) the district’s TASB delegate selection.
On the RISE pilot, trustees discussed an intensive, one-year turnaround program offered in partnership with Region 4 that focuses on instructional excellence, leadership development, and measurable student and teacher outcomes. Administrators said the pilot will use baseline academic, attendance and discipline data, and includes substantial professional development (presenters indicated approximately $390,000 of pre-training). The board voted to approve participation at Lanier Elementary, Brazosport Intermediate and Clute Intermediate.
The board also selected Jerry Atkins as the district’s delegate to the Texas Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly in Houston on Oct. 9, 2026, and Ken Schulty as the alternate. The nominations were moved and approved by voice vote.
Board members thanked staff and regional partners and asked for clear performance metrics and reporting as the pilot proceeds.
