Ron Redden presented statutory requirements (Texas Education Code Chapter 29) and program objectives, describing the on-site OPLEX goals — including a target of greater than 70% graduation among participants within six years — and the online Graduation Alliance option designed to re-engage students who left school without a diploma or who need flexible scheduling to complete credits.
District staff reported performance figures for recent years: the on-site program had four participants in 2025–26 (all graduated), and the online Graduation Alliance had 37 participants this year with six graduates and several reactivations. Administrators estimated on-site participation could be up to 10 students and online participation up to 45 in 2026–27; applications can take up to 30 business days to process, and staff planned to submit by mid-June.
The board voted to authorize submission of the OPLEX application and to operate the program for the 2026–27 year.
