Museum board seeks county agreement to reserve 20 acres at Chicken Creek for museum site

The Gateway Museum County Board discussed plans to secure 20 acres at Chicken Creek for a future museum site, and heard that the Park County attorney is preparing a written agreement to formalize the arrangement.
"He doesn't know if it needs to be an MOU," said Mark, the museums executive director, who reported meeting today with the county attorney and summarized that the attorney is preparing an agreement that would assign the property to the museum for a set period so the project can be used as leverage for fundraising.
Chair introduced the item as old business, saying the board wants some kind of documentation the county can present to commissioners so funders will see the site is reserved. Mark said the attorney also has the feasibility assessment and the boards original recommendation and expects to have an approach to recommend in about two weeks.
Board members said they will stay engaged with county accounting and commissioners as details are finalized. The discussion closed with no formal agreement yet; the attorneys draft will determine next steps and whether the board should present an MOU or a different recommendation to the commissioners.
