After a lengthy review of departmental lines and capital requests, the North Haven Select Board voted April 1 to adopt the town’s FY2027 budget.
Budget presenters reported a gross spending increase of 5.95% driven largely by rising personnel costs and capital items; after applying reserves and anticipated revenues the net tax impact was presented as a 2.54% increase. The board and budget committee discussed major line items including sewer and water subsidies, emergency services equipment (repeaters and pagers), snow and road maintenance, and reserve contributions. The budget committee noted and the board accepted a plan to use $300,000 of fund balance to lower the near-term tax impact.
Members also debated stipend proposals for appointed positions and recommended monitoring fiscal impacts in future years. After discussion the board moved, seconded and approved the FY2027 budget for presentation on the town warrant; the vote was recorded as carried by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will publish the adopted budget numbers and prepare warrant materials for the town meeting schedule.
