North Haven board approves design work to assess ADA upgrades at community building

Select board members said they want a complete design package so the town can choose whether to implement both elements or phase work later. The motion to hire Morgan for the entry and bathroom design passed after a second and an affirmative voice vote.
The board clarified that approving design work does not commit the town to construction costs. Members discussed limiting spending for additional services and asked staff to confirm a cap for follow-on work; town staff said any further structural work would be presented for separate approval.
The vote followed public comment and line-by-line discussion of budget items for the coming fiscal year. The board said it expects to obtain competitive bids if the design recommends structural alterations.
The board’s action: authorized design and review work for the community building entrance and bathrooms to identify ADA upgrades and costs; staff will return with final proposals for construction authorization.
