Attleboro Planning Board approves Comprehensive Plan draft and forwards recommendation to Municipal Council

The Attleboro Planning Board voted unanimously May 4 to approve the draft Comprehensive Plan prepared by the Mayor's Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 41, 81D, and to forward the Board's recommendation to the Municipal Council for further action.
Committee member Shannon Be9nay told the Board the Committee's suggested edits were primarily to update the status of actions that had changed since the plan text was drafted, and to fix grammar, tenses and formatting; she said the Committee did not propose changes to the plan's goals and recommendations. Be9nay made the motion to approve and Tiffany Foster seconded; the motion passed with all voting in favor.
Board members emphasized the edits were mainly wording and tense corrections before the document moves to the Municipal Council. The Board's action on May 4 is a recommendation required under state law and does not by itself adopt the plan into policy; the Municipal Council will next receive the Board's recommendation.
