Waynesville reports Well 10 pump installed, advances OPWC street projects

Chief Gary Copeland, the Village Manager and Safety Director, reported to the Village Council on Jan. 5 that the pump for Well 10 has been installed and that samples show a pumping rate of over 300 gallons per minute. He said the next step to bring the well online is to bore a water line under the Mill Race so the new supply can blend with the village’s other wells.
Council member Troy Lauffer asked whether Well 10 is the well near Bowman Park; Copeland confirmed it is and reiterated that the well will remain offline until the line-under-Mill-Race work is completed. Copeland said bringing the well online will improve the village’s capacity to support future growth.
Copeland also reported operational and project updates: temporary parking signs were installed outside the post office; the Water Department cleaned and replaced valves in the chlorine room; SmithCorp has begun delivering equipment for the OPWC Fourth Street project; and the Village has been approved for an OPWC project on Fifth and Sixth streets. The minutes record a $697.60 refund to the Village from the OPWC Corwin project.
