Commissioners approve Knox boxes, jail rekeying, bridge inspection and a road-data contract; OK unofficial US 52 detour

Chief Deputy Mike Beard asked the board to approve a Knox box contract (Knox company) to provide secure boxes and access for officers and supervisors at county buildings; Josh Frost from the Knox company was present to answer technical questions. Commissioners approved the contract by roll call.
Capital investments director Max requested and commissioners approved a contract with Poly Jail Building Company to replace 10 lock assemblies and rekey the older portion of the jail so the facility uses a single key type; the transcribed quote for that work was $36,000.
County highway staff requested execution of an unofficial local detour with INDOT for lane closures on US 52 between 400 North and 300 North starting on or after July 7 and running through the end of October. The unofficial detour would use county roads (350 West and 250 North); staff emphasized that the county will be responsible for repairs and should document pre-detour road conditions. Commissioners approved execution of the detour agreement.
The board also approved Task Order #2 for part‑time construction inspection associated with replacement of Bridge 70 (posted with a weight restriction) with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $127,700, and authorized a one‑year agreement with Civil Inc. to collect pavement and infrastructure data (sensor-mounted vehicle, three 3D LIDAR scans, PASER ratings and street imagery) at a not‑to‑exceed amount of $41,580 for the first year (price locked for three years if renewed).
What happens next: county departments will execute contracts and proceed with the rekeying, bridge inspection and pavement-data collection work; highway staff will run LIDAR mapping prior to detour use and coordinate repairs related to the unofficial local detour.
