County staff opened bids on Horse Creek Road gravel and millings at the Aug. 5 meeting and reported the submitted cost-per-mile and total-project figures.
Road & Bridge staff said three bids were received but one was not opened because it was not addressed according to bid documents. CKMA Excavating's submitted cost-per-mile for gravel was $58,750 with a total project cost of $499,275; hauling millings was listed at $46,750 (total $397,375). A second bidder, Hobanson Construction, submitted a gravel cost of $60,418.45 and a total project cost reported as $513,566.83; a millings option from Hollings Millings listed $41,722 and a total project cost shown in the document as $303,154,637 (staff noted the figures and that they will review with attorneys).
The road department said it will evaluate the bids with county attorneys this coming week and provide a recommendation to the commissioners at the next meeting.
