Committee hears updates on local bridge prospects, Causeway MLS, Richards Pit and town road tours

County highway staff briefed the committee on multiple ongoing projects and interdepartmental operations.
On local bridges, Brian reported no updates from the Town of Montello or Town of Crystal Lake; he said Representative Dallman is involved with Columbia County bridge projects affected by railroad delays and that Marquette County anticipates a Local Bridge Program cycle in October and plans to pursue a qualifying structure on County Road O.
Causeway MLS platform design is being finalized with ADA elements and platform construction will begin; paving of the Causeway is tentatively scheduled for mid-May and will require flagging operations. At Richards Pit, recycled asphalt is being crushed and staff plan to construct a pad and retention basin to support washing for manufactured sand processing.
Staff completed one road tour with more scheduled. Interdepartmental work included mowing a firebreak for Parks and Rural Planning at John Muir Park; Buildings and Grounds have several spring projects. Staff also noted WCHA items including a paver training and a regional meeting; the minutes record that Brian may attend virtually if offered.
