Clinical Services reports crisis-call data; Unity Recovery drop-in center and mobile response grant under review

Dawn Woodard, presenting the Clinical Services Unit report, told the board on April 4 that the unit handled 21 crisis calls since the last report, including two calls involving the jail, five emergency detentions and five individuals in long-term placement; staff recorded 19 referrals during the same period.
Woodard said the drop-in center developed in partnership with Unity Recovery held a second town hall with about 20 attendees; staff have identified a location and a name for the center and are advertising for a Peer Specialist position. She said a Department of Justice grant will fund mental health essentials training in April and mental health first aid training in May and that county employees participated in a mental health response survey. Woodard described pros and cons of using a DOJ grant to hire a second-shift mobile response unit and said staff will meet with the Sheriff’s Office again before making a final decision.
The board received the CSP annual report without questions. No formal action was taken on the mobile response proposal during the meeting; staff were directed to continue planning and coordination with law enforcement.
