Marquette County highway committee approves $165,000 in state DMA funds, awards $395,000 salt-shed contract and forwards $460,000 borrowing request

The Marquette County Highway Committee approved three formal actions on March 18: two additional DMA allocations totaling $165,000 for roadway crack sealing and bridge cleaning, awarded a $395,000 contract for a state salt shed to O'Shea Construction, and forwarded a $460,000 borrowing request for additional quad-axle chassis to the County Board.

The meeting record shows Chair Mike Raddatz called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and the committee proceeded through routine business before taking the three votes. Brian Trebiatowski asked the committee to approve an additional $130,000 in DMA funds for crack sealing on State Highway 22 and $35,000 for bridge cleaning; Lance Achterberg moved to approve and Kathy Jo Locke seconded. The motion carried.

The committee reviewed two bids for the state salt shed. Brian recommended the lower bid from O'Shea Construction. John Bennett moved to accept the $395,000 bid; Dave Benson seconded and the motion carried.

On equipment procurement, Brian requested the committee forward a borrowing request of $460,000 to the County Board to be used toward purchasing additional 2026 quad-axle chassis. Lance Achterberg moved to forward the request and John Bennett seconded; the committee approved the referral to the County Board.

Each of the three formal actions was recorded as a motion with a second and marked in the minutes as "motion carried." The minutes do not record roll-call vote tallies or individual yes/no votes. No amendments or conditions to the motions were recorded.
