Hickman council clears advertising for final Scots Creek Trail segment

HICKMAN, Neb.
The Hickman City Council on July 22 authorized staff to advertise bids for the final segment of the Scots Creek Trail after confirming required federal reporting and grant conditions have been completed.
Olsson consultant Shane told the council the project is ready to go to market and that the city will advertise for about three weeks before opening bids. He said construction is most likely to occur after Oct. 1, when the citys fiscal year begins and final scheduling will depend on bidders availability and weather.
Council members discussed revisiting homeowners and minor property details with abutting owners and confirmed the north-connection segment is part of a separate next-year street plan. The council approved the motion to start the procurement process.
The council did not set a firm construction start date but staff said most of the construction is expected in OctoberNovember depending on contractor schedules.
No vote tally was recorded in detail beyond the roll-call approval to advertise bids; staff will return with bid results and a construction schedule for council approval.
