PennDOT report finds six township trees intrude Pennridge Airport flight path; board declines timber harvest

East Rockhill Township reviewed a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Pennridge Airport annual safety inspection report (dated April 25, 2019, received by the township on Dec. 11, 2019) that found six trees on township property intruding into the airport's flight pattern. Five of those trees are on the property boundary between Willard H. Markey Centennial Park and airport property; one is to the right of the Markey Park driveway.
Engineer C. Robert Wynn told the board the consensus was not to perform a timber harvest because that would leave significant debris for many years. The board directed Mr. Wynn to contact the Pennridge Airport to request the airport mark the trees so ownership can be established before the township considers any removal or other action.
No removal action or funding appropriation was approved at the Dec. 19 meeting; the minutes record only the direction to coordinate marking and ownership determination.
