The Cedarville City Council on May 19 approved the April regular meeting minutes and the May financial report, appointed Jon Odom to the vacant Ward 1 Position 1 and received routine department reports and announcements.
Alderman Johnson moved to approve the April minutes; Alderman Neal seconded and the motion passed 3-0. Treasurer Sandy Cook presented the April end-of-month account balances and reviewed the May financial report; the minutes record a motion to approve the May financial report made by Alderman Neal, seconded by Alderman Burris, and passed 3-0. The minutes do not list account balances or line-item amounts in the body of the recorded summary.
Jon Odom submitted a letter of intent to fill the vacant Ward 1 Position 1 through the end of the term (Dec. 31, 2026). Alderman Johnson moved to appoint Odom; Alderman Burris seconded and the motion passed 3-0. Mr. Odom was sworn in at the meeting by Mayor Deborah Pinkerton.
Department updates included Grounds Supervisor Kenny Brenton reporting pothole patching, repair of the City Hall parking lot, roadside tree trimming and repair of a city work truck. Police Chief Andy Jones reported 44 calls for service, 12 incident/offense reports, one misdemeanor arrest, two citations, two warnings, one motorist assist, seven traffic stops and two accidents. Fire Chief Cody Cooper reported nine medical calls, two traffic accidents and that the department assisted District 4 with two calls.
Announcements included a Harps Store community fundraiser on June 6 and a proposed ribbon-cutting for the Cedarville Senior Center on June 8 (the center will be open 8 a.m.–3 p.m.). Mayor Pinkerton said Cedarville is not considered a low-income city for certain grants and has distributed surveys to seek enough responses to qualify; the survey deadline was stated as June 19.
With no further business the council adjourned; the minutes record the adjournment motion passing 4-0.
