Ranallo sworn in as Waite Hill mayor after Baldwin declines; Ryan Cox elected council president

Robert A. Ranallo was sworn in as mayor of the Village of Waite Hill on Jan. 9, 2012, after he was elected Council President to fill a vacancy created when Mayor Baldwin indicated he would not take the oath of office. Law Director Stephen Byron administered the oath following a roll-call vote that elected Ranallo as Council President.
Following Ranallo's ascension by operation of Article II, Section 17 of the Waite Hill Charter, the council elected Ryan Cox as Council President and Ken Dery as Council Vice President. Karl Scheucher nominated Cox; the nomination was closed and Cox was elected with a roll call that recorded Yeas from Dery, Scheucher, Steudel and Taplin and an abstention from Cox. Cox nominated Dery for vice president; the council approved with Yeas from Cox, Scheucher, Steudel and Taplin and an abstention from Dery.
Mayor Ranallo announced he had consulted with former Mayor Baldwin before reappointing members to municipal boards. The council confirmed Diana Rezaee to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Architectural Board of Review (terms ending Dec. 31, 2014) and Janet Mann to the Board of Zoning Appeals (term ending Dec. 31, 2016). The confirmations carried on roll-call votes.
