A staff member reported a roughly three-and-a-half to four-hour Lean Six Sigma overview that covered plan-do-check problem-solving concepts and noted nine participants completed the initial white-belt certification. The speaker said the white-belt level is a free initial certification, that further belts (yellow, blue) are optional and may carry costs, and proposed that the board recognize certified staff at a future meeting.
Stephanie G distributed small informational cards about heat-related illnesses and offered cooling cloths for staff to carry while working outdoors or in poorly ventilated indoor spaces. "As we transition into July and August... I just wanted to pass these around and you all can give them to family members," she said, stressing hydration, breaks and ventilation to avoid heat stroke and heat exhaustion. She cited a recent local incident in which an employee's family member experienced heat-related collapse to underline the outreach's importance.
No formal actions were taken; staff said they would share the training presentation and an acknowledgment for certified employees may appear on a future board agenda.
