County clerk and treasurer ask commissioners for modest pay bumps and record‑keeping software; clerk proposes targeted raises for deputies

Brazman described two software quotes for digital preservation of probate and criminal records: a vendor quote of $31,500 and an alternative, Cyclone, quoted at $2,400 per year with no startup cost. “I’m trying to save us quite a bit of money,” she said, and said she will present the preservation plan in August.
On personnel, Brazman asked the court to consider a 5% salary increase for deputies to help offset rising costs of living and to retain staff. She also requested what she characterized as “a 25% hour salary increase” for Kim Lake, the real property deputy, later clarified in discussion as 25 cents per hour; Brazman said Lake has cross‑trained in all deputy positions and routinely performs month‑end duties in others’ absence.
Treasurer Mrs. Appleide asked the court to consider aligning elected‑official salaries across Titus County so that elected officials receive comparable pay. She provided comparison pages from neighboring counties and warned that because there will be 27 pay periods next year instead of 26, unchanged salaries would amount to an effective pay cut. She asked for a 5% increase for the assistant treasurer, providing dollar figures in her handout.
Both presenters said they had moved some funds between line items to cover new expenses and noted they would provide additional documentation if commissioners wanted it. No formal action was taken on either office’s requests during the workshop.
The court recessed for scheduling and later resumed the workshop.
