Trophy Club parks staff outline July 4th plans: 5K, parade and evening celebration

Madison said the day will begin with a Patriot 5K and fun run at 7:15 a.m., this year starting from the Trophy Club community pool to ease prior parking problems; the race will award finisher medals. The Parade of Patriots will stage at Medlin parking lot and begin at 10 a.m. The evening celebration will open at 6 p.m., with a fireworks display set for 9:40 p.m. Madison added a new obstacle feature for the t‑ball field (a ninja‑style course) and said participants must wear closed‑toed shoes to use it.
Staff noted that due to construction at Byron Nelson High School there will be no shuttle service this year; instead, organizers will offer golf‑cart parking on a multi‑use field and direct attendees to typical lots including Medlin and Veterans Park. Madison said staff distributed council information packets with parking passes, T‑shirts and other event details and encouraged council members to contact the parks team with any questions.
Madison also reported on pool and Triton swim team activity: swim lessons and water aerobics are underway, and the Triton team has about 170 swimmers; the team competed on June 6 and will host a home meet on June 27. Staff said one pool shade structure is installed while others remain pending because of footing and pole sizing issues; crews are working with contractors to finalize timelines.
