Board authorizes just compensation for right-of-way work and acknowledges lawsuit

After a closed executive session on litigation, Madison County supervisors unanimously approved just compensation for five tracts and one uneconomic remnant for the Livingston Road and Highway 22 realignment and acknowledged receipt of lawsuit CI-2026-077-J, authorizing the county attorney to respond.
On June 15 the Madison County Board of Supervisors entered executive session to discuss litigation. After returning to open session the board reported two unanimous actions taken in closed session.
First, the board voted unanimously to establish just compensation for five tracts of land and one uneconomic remnant associated with the Livingston Road and Highway 22 realignment project. The board did not place dollar amounts for individual tracts on the public record during the open-session announcement; staff said just compensation had been set.
Second, the board unanimously acknowledged receipt of a lawsuit identified on the record as Cause No. CI-2026-077-J and authorized the county attorney to respond on the county’s behalf.
What happens next: The county attorney will proceed with response as authorized by the board; staff will record the just compensation determinations in the property acquisition files and the minutes.
