The Ossipee Town board voted to authorize roughly $3,900 from the town's capital/building improvement fund to replace a damaged overhead roll door at the transfer station and to cover materials for framing, town public-works staff (TJ) told the board.
"The quote I got is 3,900," TJ said while describing plans to reduce the door opening to a 10-foot two-door configuration because the existing 16-foot door was damaged and excessive for the site. The board voted to authorize the expense and said the work could be done soon to restore reliable access for town equipment.
The board also considered assessor recommendations on three tax-abatement applications and approved a motion to deny all three as recommended. The abatements cited in the meeting were for 29 Bay Point Road (map 22 lot 10), 22 Remley Road (map 33 lot 38) and 7 Ryfield Road (map 49 lot 7). A board member moved to deny the abatements "as recommended by the assessor," and the motion carried on voice vote.
In personnel business the board announced that Chief Sullivan has been named the town's full-time police chief and that Will French is now permanent lieutenant. The board amended its cruiser take-home policy to permit Chief Sullivan to take the cruiser home up to 20 miles from his residence, an increase from the existing 15-mile limit. A board member made the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
The meeting closed with standard procedural items, including a vote to unseal three non-public session minutes and adjournment before 7 p.m.
Next steps: the transfer-station door work will move forward once procurement and framing materials are arranged; the assessor's denials stand unless appealed through the appropriate administrative process.
