City to add two Flock cameras; council presses sheriff representative on enforcement

City Administrator Matthew Peoples told Canal Winchester City Council on Jan. 20 that the administration is adding two Flock cameras, that the purchases were moved forward to save money, and that permitting is underway with an expected spring installation.
"We are adding two of those, and we got that moving a little bit early," Peoples said.
Councilmember Patrick Shea questioned local enforcement levels after reviewing December ticket counts, calling the monthly number "abysmal" compared with prior months; a Fairfield County Sheriff representative replied that deputies had been occupied with snow and other duties during the period.
Development Director Haire also briefed council on land‑use filings. He said staff received two applications and a rezoning request for the northeast corner of US 33 and Bowen Road to change the site from General Commercial to Limited Manufacturing, and that a site development plan was filed proposing a 210,000‑square‑foot industrial building at Bowen Road and Robinett Way (part of the Canal Pointes project).
Council did not take an immediate enforcement action at the meeting; the Flock‑camera installation and planning filings will proceed through permitting and departmental follow up.
