Salem Township supervisors vote to advertise bids for tractor with 105+ HP and boom mower specification

Salem Township supervisors unanimously approved advertising for bids to purchase a tractor with a boom mower and set minimum specifications and a public schedule for solicitation. The special meeting was held Feb. 11, 2026, and adjourned at noon.
Supervisor Bob Zundel moved to discuss advertising for bids for a tractor; Supervisor Todd Paulich seconded. During discussion, Paulich said, “we would prefer to buy a brand-new tractor with a boom mower but it's not in the budget this year.” The board then established bid specifications requiring equipment no older than 2008, at least 105 horsepower, fewer than 5,000 hours, documented service records and immediate availability.
On a subsequent motion, Zundel moved and Paulich seconded to publish the bid advertisement on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026 in the Penn Franklin newspaper to satisfy legal advertising requirements. The supervisors set the bid-opening for March 5, 2026, with the award to be made at the public supervisors meeting on March 18, 2026. All three supervisors — Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich — voted in favor of both motions; both passed unanimously.
The board also approved a motion to adjourn and set a hearing for Feb. 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building. The meeting minutes were signed by Secretary Kelly Kellyoth Otto.
The advertisement schedule and the bid specifications are the immediate next steps; the township will accept and open bids on March 5 and will consider awarding the contract at the March 18 public meeting.
