Radnor Township recognized longtime volunteer Bob Nicholas at its June 15 board meeting and unveiled a stained‑glass rendering of the township seal that will be permanently displayed in the municipal building’s east entrance.
Commissioners and staff praised Nicholas’s four decades of service in parks and recreation, youth sports leagues, scouting leadership and historic‑preservation efforts. The board credited him with founding and managing local youth basketball (since 1990), decades of coaching with township soccer and Wayne Little League, and volunteer work to conserve trails including the Skunk Hollow trail system.
Nicholas told the audience the stained glass began as a hobby he picked up in retirement and thanked his family and the Wayne Art Center; he said he began the municipal‑seal project in September 2023 and acknowledged the support of a master stained‑glass artist who assisted him.
The board presented Nicholas with a plaque and public thanks for "an indelible mark on our township" and for creating a visible symbol of the community’s parks and trails ethos.
Provenance: recognition and remarks are recorded in the meeting’s opening and the honoree’s remarks (SEG 010–254).
