Centerton approves PowerDMS purchase for police department, contingent on contract review

The Centerton City Council on Jan. 13 authorized the purchase of PowerDMS for the Police Department after a staff presentation explaining the software’s use for policy management, training, field training officer records and public engagement.
Cody Miles presented the platform, saying the vendor expected minimal first‑year software and implementation costs and that recurring fees in years two and three would be higher. Cody said the city would retain ownership of its data and that the product supports accreditation workflows with the Arkansas Chiefs Police Association.
Council approved Resolution 2026‑03 authorizing purchase, but the motion included a contingency that the city attorney, Brian, review the contract before final execution. “Someone like to make a motion to adopt resolution 2026‑03 contingent on review of the contract by Brian,” an attending council member said; the council then approved that motion by roll call.
Officials noted the purchase is a year‑to‑year contract and said continued participation would depend on implementation success and budget availability in subsequent years. No additional appropriation was recorded at the Jan. 13 vote; council action authorized the purchase subject to the contract review.
