Cherry Valley awards residential trash contract to local hauler Jason’s Junk Removal

Cherry Valley’s council voted to authorize a one‑year contract with Jason’s Junk Removal to provide residential trash cans and collection service under a vendor‑proposed schedule and pricing.
Under the approved plan, Jason’s Junk Removal will supply trash cans as requested by residents and charge $25 per month for households with one can and $35 per month for households with two cans. The vendor proposed collection east of the railroad tracks on Wednesdays and west of the tracks on Thursdays, beginning the first full week of January following the termination of the existing contract. Staff confirmed the last pickup by the departing provider is scheduled for Dec. 31.
Council members reviewed transition logistics, including how businesses with existing dumpsters (for example, Dollar General) may continue their current arrangements. The mayor will execute the contract on the city’s behalf after finalization of the list of households receiving cans.
A motion to approve the one‑year contract was moved, seconded and carried by the council.
