Doug briefed the council on quotes for replacing the nonfunctional hydrant; the parts were estimated at about $3,120 and the council discussed adaptions to the existing line that could push total costs to approximately $5,000 on the high side. Council members highlighted that the hydrant had never provided sufficient flow to support a fire truck in that neighborhood.
Staff also reported a cracked underground sewer pipe and damage related to a failed lift pump that had flooded a residence; preliminary repair estimates discussed in the meeting were in the region of $7,000 for the sewer work. Council discussed impacts to yards and road ditches where the work will occur.
A motion to proceed with the repairs was moved and seconded and the council voted to authorize the work. Staff indicated they will solicit bids or execute needed repairs and will report back with final costs and scheduling details.
