Andover Select Board approves warrants, hires transfer-station attendant and closes small tax accounts

The Andover Select Board moved through a series of routine but substantive votes at its Dec. 2 meeting, approving financial and wage warrants, a hire at the Transfer Station, several tax account abatements and appointments.
Meeting minutes from Nov. 18, 2025 were approved. Financial Warrant #23 motions carried to pay vendors including Archies ($4,459.00 for cleanup week), Elan ($2,274.53), MMEHT ($4,427.89 for employee health insurance), Waste Management ($2,973.07 for tipping fees) and a remainder payment of $16,882.28. The board approved Wage Warrant #23 for $5,613.08 and adjusted Wage Warrant #22 to a new total of $9,321.39 (an upward adjustment of $1,491.70) to reflect Maine PERS-related changes.
The board voted to abate a Personal Property Tax account for Puzzle Mountain Soapery (Account 63) to remove prior fees and close the account, and abated Recruiting Resources for three years totaling $18.89 and closed that account after the owner asserted the business no longer operated at that site. The board appointed Joan Forrester, Mike Forrester and Sherry Donovan to the 2026 Budget Committee.
On operational matters, the board voted to hire Mark Chaisson as a per-diem Transfer Station attendant at $15.65/hour and voted to discontinue sidewalk maintenance during winter months (annual vote required by Nov. 1). The board also signed closeout documents for two Disaster Projects (740887, completion 11/1/2023; 746067, completion 7/6/2023).
