The Clinton City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance establishing a Court Square temporary entertainment district and amended the permitted hours from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.
Members first moved to amend the time provision in the ordinance and then placed the ordinance on first, second and third readings by title only. The council adopted the ordinance and separately approved an emergency clause to allow the change to apply immediately to upcoming events, including the Moonshine Festival and a planned reunion weekend.
Council members said the amendment followed a successful test during previous events and will help coordinate permits and activities for festivals on the downtown square. The ordinance was approved by unanimous roll-call votes.
