Warren County approves up to $1,000 for Pine Village dumpster to help residents after power outage

Following recent storm-related power outages, a request from a Pine Village council member prompted Warren County commissioners to approve funding for a roll-off dumpster to give residents a place to dispose of spoiled food and other outage-related waste.
Staff described requests from Pine Village officials and said the dumpster would be placed at a fire department or other site and should be monitored to avoid misuse. Commissioners discussed size, signage and whether to limit use to village residents; they ultimately approved up to $1,000 for a dumpster and agreed to leave eligibility open to county residents affected by the outage.
One commissioner asked that county deputies or village staff monitor the container to ensure only spoiled food and related refuse are deposited. The county will identify a pickup schedule and, if the dumpster fills quickly, may order an additional roll-off under the approved amount.
The motion carried by voice vote; staff will coordinate location, monitoring and billing within county purchasing rules and return updates if additional expense is required.
