The Town of Granby Commission on Aging met June 8, 2026, and Chairman Jean Donihee-Perron called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. A quorum was present and the meeting ran until 11:21 a.m., when members voted to adjourn.
The commission approved the minutes of April 13, 2026, on a motion by L. Simpson that was seconded by Ellen Thomson; the minutes record the vote as 5-0-1. The commission also voted unanimously (6-0-0) to nominate Susan Hackett as the Commission’s communications liaison after a motion by L. Simpson and a second from Maureen Eberly.
Director of Human Services Sandra Yost provided the activity report and operational updates. Staff have issued an RFP to replace wallpaper in the Community Room and foyer. Fresh Access, a program providing food access for seniors, will begin June 18 and will require participants to come into the Community Room rather than use a drive-through model this year. The Lunch Bunch program’s meals were prepared in-house for May and will continue that way; staff reported growing attendance. Yost also described the Live 2 B Healthy informational sessions and demonstrations scheduled for June; the program is intended to complement current instructors and partners with RenewActive by UnitedHealthcare, SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit.
Event planning updates included vendor applications opening for the Live Well Expo and preparations for the Senior Center’s 25th Anniversary Open House, led by staff member J. Kielbasa. Kielbasa and Vanessa Berrelli will also work on updates to the Senior Center handbook and the transportation booklet.
Under old business, staff provided a participation report to Ken Rohde for compilation and the Elderly Tax Abatement subcommittee is scheduled to meet June 11, 2026. Chair Donihee-Perron sought the commission’s input on wording in the town’s POCD revision related to affordable/elderly and workforce housing; members discussed modest wording changes. The commission also approved a plan to staff a Welcome Desk with volunteers beginning in September to assist visitors with check-in at the Senior Center.
There was no new business. The meeting minutes were submitted by Recording Secretary Vanessa Berrelli.
