Castine selectmen approve $82,085.80 general fund warrant and $28,346.47 water warrant; library art purchase noted

The Town of Castine Selectmen/Assessors & Overseer of the Poor met on Aug. 12, 2025, at Emerson Hall and approved both a General Fund warrant for $82,085.80 and a Water warrant for $28,346.47.
Acting Chair Dan Leader and Selectboard member Amy Gutow presided. Amy Gutow moved to approve the General Fund warrant in the amount of $82,085.80; Dan Leader seconded and the motion passed, 2-0. During the discussion, Gutow said Ina Schonberg (CEDD) had coordinated with Finance Officer Karen Motycka to include several Storywalk Trail project expenses on the warrant. Gutow asked about a $2,600 line item for art. Motycka said that sum was for the Witherle Memorial Library’s purchase of a piece of art intended to support a local artist.
Amy Gutow then moved to approve the Water warrant for $28,346.47; Dan Leader seconded and the motion was approved, 2-0, with no additional discussion.
With no other business, Dan Leader moved to adjourn; Amy Gutow seconded. The meeting adjourned at 4:06 PM. Minutes were prepared by Town Clerk Susan Macomber.
