Castine Town Manager reports PFAS non-detect, FEMA coordination and multiple infrastructure grant efforts

Goodine told the Selectboard that two tests on the same well returned non-detect results for PFAS; Brooke Tenney separately reported her privately arranged well sample, taken at the same time, also returned non-detect results. Goodine said the town is working with GEI and MEMA on FEMA-funded engineering for Water Street, Fort Madison and gazebo projects and is awaiting guidance on grant-portal next steps for Water Department generator and other CDS grant items.
His written manager's report (filed with the minutes) listed a long set of active items: buying a tarp and commissioning structural studies for the salt/sand sheds; pursuing historic-light electrical outlets on poles; continuing coordination on transfer-station and recycling operations; potential lobster-boat-tour requests routed to the Harbor Committee for dock-use approval; granite-curbing ordinance revision discussion; Perkin Street sewer and storm-drain estimates and possible NBRC grant submission for FY2027 work; radar-trailer deployment and signage for Water Street one-way; and feasibility talks about municipal solar opportunities with Solect.
