The board handled a cluster of policy, personnel and finance items in the meeting’s latter half.
Policy: Dr. Foster and staff presented first readings for several policy revisions (including grading and evaluation-related policies) and recommended a second reading in July. The board approved the second reading of policy 0412, which permits site-based councils to carry forward up to 10% of internal account budgets given a council plan.
Personnel: Staff presented content updates to the certified evaluation plan for 2026–27 that remove outdated KTIP language, add the Spencer County New Teacher Academy references, clarify observation domains and student-growth guidance, and update administrator standards references. The board approved the content changes and directed staff to finish formatting. The employee handbook was updated only for dates (2026–27) and was approved.
Finance: Staff recommended renewing the district's depository contract with People's Bank for a one‑year term (with option to renew annually through June 30, 2031). Peoples Bank’s pledge of collateral to secure deposits beyond FDIC limits for FY27 was also presented and approved in compliance with KRS requirements. The board approved a capital funds request to cover allowable capital expenditures; the transcript reported a requested amount (garbled) and a remaining capital balance of about $1,416,244. Staff will circulate final figures from the packet for accuracy.
Governance: The board accepted the resignation of board member Tim Trip effective the prior night, declared the resulting vacancy as of June 16, 2026, and directed staff to post the vacancy on the district website and publish a two-week advertisement in the county newspaper to solicit applications in accordance with statute KRS 160.19 and KRS 160.570. The board set expectations for a likely application window in early to mid‑July and potential special-call meetings.
Next steps: Staff will publish the vacancy notice, execute deposit/collateral documentation with the bank, finalize and post policy documents, and return any corrected dollar amounts in the capital funds packet to the board.
