The Lyon County Room Tax Board approved allocations totaling $32,500 for local events and organizations at its June 10 meeting in Yerington.
Board Chair Debbie Skinner confirmed the total funding pool of $32,500 under agenda item 5.e, then heard presentations from applicant representatives about how they would use awarded funds. After discussion and questions from board members, the board voted unanimously to accept the budget and allocate the available funds.
The board’s packet and posted table list nine projects that received portions of the $32,500, including Dayton Valley Days; Fernley 4th of July and Christmas Bingo; Fernley Softball Tournaments; Mason Valley Beekeepers Conference; Lavender Days; Lyon County Fair & Rodeo; Night in the Country; Silver City Fireman's Ball; and Smith Valley Fun Days. The meeting record shows the board allocated the entire $32,500; per the minutes table, no unallocated balance remained.
Deputy Clerk Melissa Colocho thanked the board and applicants for their efforts on behalf of local vendors. A member of the public, Becky Howlett, commented separately about campground improvements in Fernley during the public-comment period.
The board voted 5-0 to accept the funding allocations as presented. Detailed per-project award amounts are included in the meeting packet and the official minutes.
