Michigan City Area Schools board approves consent agenda, welcomes three administrators

Associate Superintendent Kathy Bildhauser introduced the hires after Dr. McCollum invited her to present them. "Tonight, I am pleased to welcome Mr. Anthony Harl for the position of LaPorte County Career and Tech Education Director," Bildhauser said, adding that Harl has "nearly 30 years of experience across all levels of CTE," including time as Indiana State Director of Career and Technical Education and leadership on the Perkins V state plan.
Bildhauser also introduced Mr. Lucas Snyder as the new principal of Michigan City High School. "Lucas first began his career in 2011 as a social studies teacher at Michigan City High School," she said, and noted that Snyder served as assistant principal for both middle schools and has led Barker Middle School since 2020. Bildhauser cited Snyder's work implementing restorative practices and a collaborative data routine to support school improvement.
Ms. Christine Gizikowski was introduced as the district's new data and grants coordinator on the curriculum team. Bildhauser described Gizikowski's background as a federal grants manager, corporation test coordinator, high-ability and ELL coordinator, and said she has served as a state literacy cadre coach supporting four schools since 2023.
The consent agenda containing the travel request and personnel items was moved and seconded; the transcript records a voice vote approving the consent agenda with no opposition recorded. Individual vote tallies and the names of the members who moved and seconded were not recorded in the transcript.
Board members and attendees offered congratulations and brief remarks welcoming the new administrators. The meeting concluded with the chair adjourning the special session.
