The Pawnee City Council on July 8 approved an offer to buy two nuisance buildings at 522 and 526 G Street for $10,000, contingent on the seller signing a letter of intent and the city receiving RCRP grant funds.
Clerk Tamela Curtis said she completed the RCRP checklist portion and presented a draft Letter of Intent based on the SENDD template. Council Member Susan Eisenhauer moved to offer $10,000 and provide the seller reasonable time to remove building materials; Council Member Donnie Fisher seconded the motion and the roll call vote was unanimous among those present.
During the discussion, Jerry Graham said he had been working on the buildings while the owner was away and estimated approximately $30,000 in tin roofing material; he asked whether the city would also purchase a neighboring lot but council declined and advised him to check with Heidi Kohake, owner of HealthFirst Pharmacy, about her interest.
The motion conditions the purchase on the city receiving the RCRP grant; if funding is not received, no purchase will occur per the motion's terms.
