Renell Noack elected Northfield Council President pro-tem after council vote

Northfield Village Council on Dec. 8 elected Councilperson Renell Noack to serve as Council President pro-tem after a brief nomination process following the mayoral transition.
Law Director Brad Bryan explained that an election was required because of the prior mayoral resignation and the elevation of Jennifer Domzalski to mayor. Gary Vojtush moved to nominate Renell Noack for Council President pro-tem, seconded by Keith Czerr. Nicholas Magistrelli nominated Alan Hipps, but that nomination did not receive a second.
The roll-call vote to elect Noack showed Keith Czerr-yes; Renell Noack-yes; Gary Vojtush-yes; Nicholas Magistrelli-no; Alan Hipps-yes. With a majority in favor, Noack was elected to serve until the council's first regular meeting in 2022.
Why it matters
The temporary leadership selection clarifies the council's presiding officer during the mayoral transition and ahead of the January swearing-in and organizational meeting.
