Service Superintendent Jason Walters told the council that a house on Summit Avenue burned and that the property's owner had previously died; the owner's adult children were living in the home but have since moved out of town. Walters said the house was uninsured, the Village has no current contact for the family, and Village staff may need to arrange removal of the damaged remains.
Walters also reported that last week's heavy snow was difficult to plow and caused damage to some garbage cans. A roof leak at the Houghton Road building damaged the old Village roller; a new roller, budgeted for this year, has been ordered and will replace the damaged unit once weather permits patching work to resume. Walters noted that dumpsters for May Clean-Up Month will be delivered Monday, May 2; moving delivery until after the weekend will save the Village a significant amount of money.
Council did not take formal action on these items during the meeting but asked staff to follow up on property-removal options and to continue resident notification around clean-up logistics.
