Pawnee City Council approves claims, subdivision, meter reserve and compliance forms

The Pawnee City Council on Oct. 15 approved a package of routine and project-related actions, including payroll and claims, a subdivision approval, and multiple resolutions required for grant compliance and budgeting.
Treasurer-submitted claims and payroll were approved by roll call; the claims list included large line items such as bond payments to BOK Financial (sewer bond payment $84,172.50; water bond payment $140,213.75), a LARM insurance payment of $127,003.00, and construction invoices for slip-lining and street work. The council approved the claims as submitted.
Council Member Susan Eisenhauer moved and Council Member Donnie Fisher seconded approval of Resolution #1 to subdivide the "Glenn's Addition" into three tracts; members noted concerns about lot width but were told the tracts met zoning setbacks, and the motion passed unanimously.
Council approved Resolution #2 authorizing the mayor to sign the Municipal Annual Certification of Program Compliance Form 2024, a routine requirement tied to highway allocation funds. The council also approved Resolution #5 to create a Water Meter Reserve Account capturing $1.33 per water customer effective Oct. 1, 2024 and $1.34 per customer effective Oct. 1, 2025 to fund future meter replacements.
Council reviewed emailed correspondence from the Chamber’s economic director on items including grant-sharing, a Business Retention & Expansion plan and applications to become a Leadership Certified Community and a Certified Creative District; members agreed to postpone action on those items until Aaron Sawyer can attend the Oct. 28 meeting.
The council approved a CDBG Self-Evaluation Section 504 ADA Accessibility Compliance Form required by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for monitoring the Fire Station public-works grant. The council also appointed Council Member Pat Hatfield to the Tree Board and reviewed Pawnee City Assisted Living board minutes.
Council Member Vickie Zelenka moved to adjourn; the motion carried and the meeting ended at 8:21 p.m.
