Pawnee City will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 11 to interview three selected candidates for a full-time City Crew position and make a hiring decision; council chose applicants numbered one through three from a packet of six applicants to avoid controversy over names.
Foreman Spencer Cumley reported crews repaired a sewer main under Highway 50 where an approximately 3-foot-by-4-foot void had formed, assisted by contractor Kuhl Trenching and noted Kuhl adjusted his quote because City equipment was used. Cumley said crews are installing two new water taps north of town, addressing additional leaks and backfilling around new sidewalks at VanHorne Park; he requested eight round posts to prevent vehicles from driving over new concrete and reported new benches are ready for placement.
The Chamber of Commerce is considering purchasing new Christmas lights for F Street (Highway 50) and indicated NPPD would assist with installation as community service. Council scheduled the special meeting and Clerk Curtis said she would post notices around town.
