Sheriff Braden Lang updated the Pawnee City Council on ongoing nuisance-property work and introduced newly hired Deputy Justyce Stankoski, whom the mayor presented with a certificate of appreciation for recent arrests tied to local drug activity.
Lang reported progress photographing and monitoring the nuisance property at 112 12th Street and said the owner had filled one roll-off dumpster; city staff will coordinate with Seneca Sanitation if additional dumpsters are required. Mayor Charlie Hatfield said City Attorney Betsy Samuelson will contact the owner of 1145 G Street to confirm whether the asbestos inspection has been completed and to obtain a planned demolition date. The Health Board will be asked to inspect the nuisance property at 738 3rd Street to determine next steps, the mayor said.
Lang also said estimated renovation of the evidence room was explored; AHRS Construction provided a rough estimate of at least $20,000. Council did not vote on enforcement actions during the meeting but directed the attorney and staff to pursue inspection and enforcement steps.
